Looking Back, Moving Forward

Here at PreProBono, 2011 has been a year filled with new obstacles, dogged perseverance, fresh faces, and, most of all, growth.
From our expansion of weekend programs across New York City and into Boston, to our first minor controversy, amiably resolved with our friends at the LSAC, to the successful completion of our pilot Summer Program, and our new alliance with 7Sage, it’s been quite a year. Those of you who have been tracking our online presence already know that our dedicated PreProBono Instructors have been tirelessly uploading free instructional videos over the months, which now number in the hundreds. Our PreProBono Fellows are preparing to kick off their law careers at the top law schools in the country. Internally, we have been fortunate to find wonderful new teammates and externally, we’ve expanded our network of awesomely altruistic lawyers and lawyers-to-be. Perhaps more than anything else, we are overjoyed to reached a stage where you, reading this blog post, can become a part of our vision for a world where those who wish to fight for truth and justice will have the support they need to make their case.
Now, more than ever, we realize the nascence of this project and just how far we might go if we work together with zeal, with discipline, and with acumen. Our organization is growing, our team is still learning, and many of our students and alumni have yet to make their impacts felt, but the burgeoning momentum we feel from our students, our networks, and our supporters leads us to believe we are onto something big. Recent birthday boy Martin Luther King Jr. smartly observes that “The time is always right to do what is right.” We wholeheartedly agree, and we also plan to do it rightly. In 2012 you will see a new PreProBono, one with higher standards for instruction, higher standards for operation, and higher standards for the state of the world. You can expect new events, new partnerships, and new programs in the coming months. Oh, and you might have noticed we have a new logo and a new website, as well.
