How it works

EARLY JUNE – LATE AUGUST

It all begins with the collaborative summer LSAT prep boot camp. During the 2020-2022 fellowship summers, PreProBono was held remotely to ensure the safety of our participants. PreProBono Summer 2024 will be conducted on a hybrid in-person/remote model, based in New York City. Program hours will be held from 10AM-5PM.

Fellows will utilize the 7sage.com curriculum and studying will be split between small group sessions, video instruction from 7sage, diagnostic tests and quizzes, and intensive diagnostic review using the Blind Review method. We require all fellows to be active, attentive, and present with cameras on during fellowship hours held on zoom. Failure to do so may result in termination from the program.

Each Friday evening at 7pm EST after program hours, our Fellows will be addressed by a variety of public interest speakers. These speakers, which including practicing attorneys and current law students, will help our Fellows begin building their public interest networks and provide them with insight and inspiration from many facets of the legal world. Our Fellows and guest speakers will have the opportunity to interact personally in a more casual setting. A list of previous speakers and their bios can be found here.

Fellows will be required to take an LSAT, apply to law school, enroll in law school, and send verification of enrollment within two years of completion of the program in August.

Note: This is an intensive study program that requires each fellow’s full focus and dedication throughout the duration of the fellowship.

PHASE 2: Law School Application

Workshops led by directors around the LSAT and Law School Applications will take place throughout the summer. These will include personal statement and diversity statement writing workshops and guidance through the application process – everything you need to know to submit your best application to the law schools of your dreams!

PHASE 3: Paying it forward

Once our fellows have been given all the tools they need, it comes time for them to pass those tools on to others who need them too. All PreProBono Fellows will be required to make themselves available to assist in the next PreProBono cohort as early as September following the program’s end in August. 2 new directors will be chosen to lead and plan for the next year’s cohort, but all fellows should anticipate providing support to the program. The Pay it Forward model is a unique opportunity to have hands-on experience in a leadership capacity beyond the directorship as all fellows from the cohort can have an impact on future fellows and grow the community.
